LSR means Distributed Systems Laboratory and stands for
Laboratoire de Systèmes Répartis.
The LSR is
part of the Institute for Core Computing Science, which belongs to the School for Computer and Communication Sciences of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), in Lausanne.
Our name used to be Operating Systems Laboratory (Laboratoire de Systèmes d'Exploitation, LSE) until July 2001.
We were part of the Computer Science Department (Département d'Informatique, DI) until 1999. The main activities of the LSR are research and teaching. Our
research focuses on reliability and security in the
context of distributed systems. The LSR teaches distributed
systems, operating system principles, concurrent programming
and object-oriented programming
to undergraduate and graduate students.
If you are a student from abroad considering to spend a practical
semester in our lab, please have a look at our
list of student projects,
in particular, the
master thesis
and semester projects,
to get a first idea about the kind of work you would likely do. |
